Why the Tree Giant Arborvitae?
Bower & Branch is excited to introduce the Tree Giant Arborvitae! We decided to give the ever-popular and beloved Green Giant Arborvitae a new look by forming it into a tree! A handsome conifer with a lemony cedar scent, Tree Giant Arborvitae has all the attributes of a Green Giant. Quickly living up to its name, growing 3-5 feet a year, Tree Giant boasts a strong pyramidal form as it reaches up to 40 feet tall. Their stylish foundation and versatility make this massive tree an easy choice for any landscape as a privacy screen or stand-alone to proudly accent your garden. Low maintenance, easy to grow and maintain, disease and deer resistant are just a few of the outstanding qualities this arborvitae tree holds. Tree Giant’s stand head and shoulders above the rest, so make sure to give this beauty room to flourish to reach its full potential of 15 feet wide, stretching out in decadent bright-green foliage with four seasons of color! Begin a new family holiday tradition of decorating your Tree Giant, bringing your landscape to life in more ways than one!
Green Giant Arborvitae was first introduced by Poulsen Nursery in Denmark, an establishment that began in 1878, and mainly specialized in roses. Though in 1937 a Thuja plant was found there, and later sent to America in 1967 to the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C., as they sought new ideas for American landscapes. In the 1990’s one arborvitae, in particular, was catching attention with its incredibly fast-growth and unbeatable hardiness; they called it ‘hybrid vigor’. A cross between Japanese Arborvitae (Thuja standishii) and Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) and now known today as Green Giant Arborvitae, have grown into a modern classic and a must-have in the landscape.
How to use in the landscape?
Because of Tree Giant Arborvitaes' colossal size, it is best to plant this magnificent beauty where it will have ample room to grow. These trees are often planted in groves or alongside each other to create a living privacy wall, which can also double as a beautiful backdrop for your landscape.

How To Plant
Arborvitaes are fast growing and the different varieties give you many reasons to add a few to your landscape. Green varieties like full sun, but tolerate light shade as well. Arborvitaes prefer moist soil as long as it is well-drained, meaning it’s not consistently wet. Pests don’t seem to be of any concern for Arborvitaes. Green Giant Arborvitae is fast growing, producing two to three feet of new growth a year. It is considered the “Leyland Cypress for the north”. While Leylands and Green Giants are similar in appearance and growth rate, the Green Giant withstands colder climates.
How To Water
They require keeping the soil moist (not too wet) after initial planting and be sure to water consistently for the first growing season. Once established, they are more tolerant of drought conditions, reducing your hand-watering responsibilities.
How To Fertilize
Incorporate Elements Starter Plant Food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer, start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant Food granular form on an annual basis each late fall. Continue this for the first three years to get your plant well established.
How To Prune
Arbs rarely need shearing but if a haircut would be beneficial, Green Giant Arbs, being such fast growers, can be sheared annually, preferably in March.

How Does Shipping Work?
Bower & Branch Trees, the real BIG trees, don’t fit in a box! Our large trees require expert delivery and care, that means our large trees are shipped on Bower & Branch trucks. We are the only ones who know how to ship our big and bigger trees and plants with tender loving care.
We deliver your trees and plants directly to your driveway or curbside! Ask Bower & Branch about planting services and rates – we'd be happy to assist in installation.
*Big trees, Size XL (A) and bigger, will take approximately 2 to 4 weeks days to be delivered. - Sizes large (AA) and smaller (Treelings) will be shipped directly to your home by a local common carrier in a plant-safe box.
How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health.. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
